RETHINKING EDUCATIONAL INSTITUTION AS A STEM OF SOCIAL SPACES
As inspired by the case study of 'Social Balconies' by 𝘌𝘥𝘸𝘪𝘯 𝘝𝘢𝘯 𝘊𝘢𝘱𝘦𝘭𝘭𝘦𝘷𝘦𝘦𝘯, the scheme intends to break down the stereotypical notion of a long flight of stairs by introducing modular balconies positioned along the side of the stretch. Each balconies are cross-breeded with the stairway to cater open study activities for students (individual working & group discussions), while the main pathway is zoned with active walkway & passive seatings for temporary waiting areas.
The resultant of communal activities are factored by the hierarchy of "active" to "passive" zones complimented by cross-sight along the stretch of stairs. These social spaces extend towards the semi-private and private areas that empowers similar design language; to engage social interactive spaces within the design scheme.
