THE EXCLUSIVE ETTIQUETTE
The Ice-cream Bar’s concept is inspired by the exclusiveness of a dark Cuban bar lounge, atmospherically tailored by the etiquette of formality & masculinity. The bonafide of a bar lounge where the purpose of being there to enjoy a fine drink and mingle with other guests are being shifted across to eateries, where we elevate the experience of ‘a scoop of ice-cream’ into something more elegant, masculine and exclusive.
The Ice-cream Bar uses an open-layout where the kiosk is visible and open to the general public, having it a fair share of regular views to the public as a gathering lounge. With such an exposed layout, we intend to introduce some variations in experience while exploring the etiquette of enjoying scoops of ice-cream. Surrounding the bar, fixed stools are placed facing inwards to allow consumers to watch the process by the ‘bar tender’. Another high-table bar is positioned facing outwards to the floor, elementally structured with thin, black steel rod where the edges are smoothened with a touch of curve to impose slick style. It also allows the experience of quick-dining while standing outside the kiosk. Behind the bar hides a row of seats facing the atrium, allowing the view to divert away from the busy circulations while watching the activities in the atrium.
The focal masculine elements are derived from simple lines, complimenting to the selection of black and gold colours décor to express masculinity in a very elegant way. The options of flexible and fixed furniture are designed to cater different seating experiences, while lighting selections are picked to accentuate the right balance to the space visually and functionally.
